Avery JohnsonAfter being turned down by Mike D’Antoni the Chicago Bulls have had to look elsewhere for a head coach. Their main option has been Avery Johnson, whom has said numerous times he plans on taking some time off. Johnson reiterated this again on Dan Patrick’s radio show Thursday that taking time off is definitely in the cards, but did admit to talking with the Bulls. Kobe facing possible suspension.

February 16, 2008

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant could be facing a one game suspension by the NBA, if he decides to skip the all star game this weekend. Under NBA rules, any player selected to the game who plays in his final regular season game before the break, must play or be suspended one game. Got it?

Simply put, Kobe played Wednesday, so he must play Sunday. If he doesn’t he’s suspended for the team’s first game against the Atlanta Hawks. The Lakers have protested with the NBA about this to no avail. They say they did not know the ligament in his pinkie was torn till after Thursday’s game when they got back into LA.

The coach of the Western Conference team is Byron Scott and he says that he will only play Kobe, as long as Kobe wants to play. So if Kobe starts and then wants to leave at the first timeout, so be it. He’s out and won’t have to come back in to the game.

I could see Kobe Bryant being his usual selfish self and skipping the game all together and taking the suspension. Remember they only play the Atlanta Hawks afterwards. So if the Lakers ARE that good, they should be able to beat the Hawks without Kobe.
