Brett Gardner major league debut

Tonight was the long awaited debut of one of the New York Yankees top hitting prospects, Brett Gardner. Gardner is a speedy center fielder who challenged Melky Cabrera for the starting job back in spring training. He failed to win a job then, but after leading the International League with 34 stolen bases through today it was time to give the chance. Ok, it really wasn’t that but that helped him be the player selected to help replace Hideki Matsui and the aching Johnny Damon. Read more

Roster changes begin for the Mets

According to FoxSports, Ken Rosenthal, the New York Mets have claimed first baseman Andy Phillips off waivers. Phillips was designated for assignment this past Sunday by the Cincinnati Reds. This move will surely leave many Mets fans scratching their heads, as it makes no sense whatsoever. Read more

Who starts for the Yankees?

There has been plenty of debate this week on who picks up the extra start for the New York Yankees. The extra start is part of a double-header this Friday against the New York Mets. There have been quite a few names mentioned for this start. They include Ian Kennedy, Alan Horne, Sidney Ponson, Kei Igawa, Alfredo Aceves and Jeff Karstens. Ian a no go for Mets series

There was plenty of speculation that Ian Kennedy would make his return to the New York Yankees on June 27th. That day the Yankees will be playing a split-stadium, day-night doubleheader against the New York Mets. Even with the recent injury to Chien-Ming Wang, the team has decided against rushing the youngster back, instead opting to make sure he’s healthy for the long haul. Read more

Hughes out at least 8 more weeks

New York Yankees pitcher Philip Hughes will be out at least another eight weeks. The youngster underwent X-Rays on his fractured rib yesterday to see how the healing process was going. The rib has been healing but not to the point yet, where the Yankees would let him begin to throw. The team has decided he can’t start a throwing program for at least two more weeks. Read more

Will Pettitte open the new Yankee Stadium?

New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte likes to play guessing games about his career, much like his former best friend Roger Clemens. Andy almost retired after last season, but decided to come back to the Yankees for a whopping $16 million deal for one season. Not a bad deal for someone who had an era over 4.00. There’s no doubt he’s enjoying the chance to close out the current Yankee Stadium. He thinks it would be an honor to open the new one as well. The real question isn’t will he return, but as a Yankees fan I hate to say, should the Yankees bring him back? Read more
