John Wall back on Team USA radar

It’s always funny how quickly things in life can change and John Wall of the Washington Wizards can attest to that. USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo announced the pool of players that are being considered for the next version of Team USA back in January. On that list there were seven point guards and Wall wasn’t one of them. Wall used that as motivation and thanks to his play this season, Colangelo is reconsidering.

On the season Wall has averaged 19.8 points, 8.7 assists, 1.9 steals and 4.0 rebounds per game. So yea, Wall’s having the best season of his NBA career which makes it’s no surprise that Colangelo’s is changing his mind, especially with a chronically injured Derrick Rose on the preliminary roster.

Personally, I think Wall is still a long shot to make the final roster but should be added to the 28 man roster. There’s seven other point guards on the roster and it’s going to be hard for him to jump most of them with him being the odd man out at the moment.I’d say the future of the point guard position for Team USA is very bright though. Even if he doesn’t make the roster Wall at the age of 23 will have plenty of time and chances to represent his country. Something, I’m sure he’ll do well.
