Ike Davis doesnt want to be traded

The New York Mets are currently shopping both of their first basemans Ike Davis and Lucas Duda and one of them doesn’t want to go anywhere. Davis seems the most likely to go but he surprisingly doesn’t want to leave Flushing and I’m not sure why.

I just want a chance to play,” Davis told MLB.com. “Honestly, I’ve loved my time with the Mets. I’m still a Met right now and I don’t want to get traded. But that part of the game is not up to us. You want to stay, but you don’t have any say in it.

“That’s life, man. You can’t just sit there and cry — you’ve just got to move on. Like this year: I’m not going to sit here and pout because I’ve been bad. No, I’m going to work my butt off and see if I can be better next year. That’s the only way to live life.” (ESPN)

If I was Davis I’d be saying please someone get me out of this place! If I’m the Mets I’m saying please someone give me something for this bum!

The ESPN report says that the Mets are willing to settle but only for more then how they internally view the player. When it comes to Davis and Duda they can’t be looking at either player too high but Davis with his power would be more appealing to a team void of it.

Neither player can hit for average and strikeout a ton BUT they both do walk a good amount and can hit the long ball. More importantly they’re both entering the prime of their career so there is always a general manager willing to take a chance at a player who has shown some potential.

That’s the very reason that Davis is the most likely to go as he did hit 32 homers in 2012.
