Andre Brown out 4-6 weeks with broken leg

New York Giants running back Andre Brown has the worst luck when it comes to injuries. During last nights preseason finale he broke his left leg, the same leg he broke last November. He’s become a very injury prone back which isn’t a good thing as he was supposed to be a major part of the Giants offense this season. At the moment, he’s expected to miss four to six weeks with what he’s calling a “tiny little crack”.

Brown said afterward that the fracture was “not that bad of a break, a tiny little crack in it.” He added that he won’t need surgery, and he doesn’t even think he’ll need the team’s short-term injured reserve designation. His leg was in a walking boot after the game.

“No, I would love to stay active,” Brown said. “That’s how I feel. I feel I can come back from this … in a couple weeks.”

“I didn’t feel any pop or anything like that,” he said, “so that’s definitely a positive” (NY Daily News)

If this is indeed a “tiny little crack” that’s a good thing as he’ll be back around mid-season and still be able to help the team and more importantly, help David Wilson. At the moment the Giants don’t look like they’ll be bringing anyone in to fill the gap so Wilson looks like a full featured back now.

The problem for Brown is this, will the Giants need him if Wilson proves he can handle the load?
