Johnny Manziel suspended for first half of opener
It looks like Texas A&M will indeed be without Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel for the first half of their season opener against Rice University. There’s been no official word yet from the team or the NCAA but it appears both, team and player, have lucked out big time here.
Manziel better stay on the straight and narrow though as the first half suspension says he did do something wrong, just not enough to warrant a bigger suspension. The NCAA will likely have him on a very, VERY short leash now.
Latest on Manziel? Per multiple sources, he'll be suspended for first half of season-opener versus Rice on Saturday.

Still awaiting final resolution (confirmation from A&M or NCAA) but assuming suspension would involve secondary violation of by-law 12.5.2.2

As most predicted, all indications are that Manziel was not found guilty of accepting payment for signature. Obviously a significant note
