Jake Westbrook to begin bullpen sessions
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jake Westbrook went on the disabled list on August 22nd and some were questioning whether the back stiffness was legit. Those conspiracy theorists will really think it was a phantom injury after Westbrook played catch Sunday and will throw bullpen sessions this week. He expects to return in early September which would be right at the end of his 15-day trip.

Westbrook hasn’t had a good season at all, he’s currently 7-8 with a 4.49 ERA over 114 innings pitched and he’s walking more batters then he strikes out, 49 to 43. When he returns he’ll likely be used in a long relief role.
