Walter McCarty joins Celtics staff

New Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens has finally rounded out his new coaching staff. The last addition is former NBA player Walter McCarty who worked for the Celtics last year as a community relations consultant. Don’t worry Celtic fans though he does have coaching experience. He spent a year with the Indiana Pacers under Jim O’Brien. He also spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Louisville Cardinals.

I like the move as it gives Stevens a former player who can help him out. By that I mean someone who can let him know how NBA players could react to his actions. It will also appease the fans as McCarty spent eight years as a Celtic.

The team says that former Celtics forward Walter McCarty will return as an assistant coach. McCarty worked for the Celtics as a community relations consultant last season. He had been a member of Jim O’Brien’s coaching staff with the Indiana Pacers during the 2010-11 season and spent three seasons at Louisville as an assistant. (NBA)
