Jeter no where close to returning

It looks like New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter won’t be back in the majors anytime soon after his third trip to the disabled list. Jete went on the D.L. on August 3 this time with a right calf strain. He’s stayed with the team in New York to work out but will be heading back to Florida when the current homsetand finishes up.

Although Derek Jeter was seen throwing at the Stadium over the weekend, he will likely head back to Florida at the conclusion of the team’s home stand.

“He’ll continue to increase his work here. When we go on the road, I think he’ll probably go down to Tampa and resume baseball activities,” Joe Girardi said. “I think at some point this week you’ll start seeing him do my favorite, tee and toss.” (New York Daily News)

Hearing this is deflating for Yankees fans as it makes a disappointing season get even worse. If Jeter was at least on the field there would be someone to cheer for.
