Todd Pratt also battling cancer
The Philadelphia Phillies just held their Alumni Weekend and much of it was spent talking about Darren Daulton and his battle with cancer. We also found out this weekend he’s not the only member of the 1993 Phillies suffering from cancer. Todd Pratt told CSN Philly that he’s been battling cancer himself for about a year now.
Pratt told Comcast SportsNet’s Leslie Gudel he discovered a lump while shaving around the time of last year’s Alumni Weekend and was later diagnosed with head and neck cancer.
“I went through treatment this last spring and it was the toughest thing in my life I’ve ever been through,” he said. “It was really some trial and tribulation there.
“Everything’s great now, and it was actually a blessing. I got in great shape and my blood pressure is down and I’m a healthy guy again.
“I have a good story, and I really shared that with Dutch the last couple days.” (CSN Philly)
It’s good to hear that Pratt is doing better and that Daulton has someone in his baseball family that can relate to him and be there for him.
Hearing that Pratt has also been battling cancer has brought up the debate on whether or not it has something to do with Veterans Stadium. Pratt is now the fifth Phillie from that era to be diagnosed with some sort of cancer.
