Alfonzo Dennard too injured to practice?

New England Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard has missed the last three practices and it has everyone speculating why. The Boston Herald is reporting that the injury is considered minor but that there’s no visible sign of anything. Could it be related to his DUI? Could Bill Belichick be trying to give some others a chance? Or are the Patriots just trying to keep him healthy?

Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard has been held out of the team drills in practice due to an unspecified injury, according to a source. The ailment is considered minor, and he was rehabbing at Gillette Stadium yesterday during the Patriots’ day off.

Dennard has been present for all eight practices of training camp, but he was held out of team drills for the last three sessions, though he could take part in some positional work. There were no signs of injury in the form of a limp, brace or wrap, so his restriction from 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work was a bit mysterious. (Boston Herald)

Conspiracy theorists can have their fun trying to figure out what’s going on in New England but I think it’s pretty simple. In only a year Dennard has a longer history of injuries then the length of his rap sheet, so I’m sure the Patriots are just trying to keep him healthy. It’s just Belichick having to play his games with the media.
