Justin Pugh watches Giants practice

Some people will complain that Justin Pugh was only watching New York Giants practice today and not participating but it really is a good thing. Pugh suffered a concussion on Thursday and hasn’t been seen on the practice field since. So if he’s on the field at least watching practice that’s a good thing, that means he’s having progress in his recovery. Even more important is that he’s getting the chance to learn more even if it is just watching.

The first-round pick was not seen on the field Friday or Saturday due to concussion symptoms. Pugh suffered the concussion on Thursday. But on Sunday, Pugh was standing and watching on the field. And coming out to watch has to be a step in the right direction.

“Yeah, he felt a little better,” Tom Coughlin said. “Felt a little better. He came out and just really observed. Hopefully he will come along.” (ESPN)

Pugh seemed like a long shot to be starting Week One for the Giants after not signing a contract till camp was about to start. Unfortunately the time he’s missing now almost guarantees that he won’t start off the season as a starter. With his versatility though he should see some action whenever a lineman needs a rest.
