Fred Jackson feels stronger then ever
Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson told reporters that he’s feeling “stronger then ever” after an off season of nothing but working out. That’s a good thing since he’s got to do whatever he can to steal carries from C.J. Spiller who is locked in as the Bills starting back for 2013.
Jackson said he is feeling stronger than ever after working hard in the offseason to be ready for camp.
Jackson said he weighs 225 pounds, his highest as a pro.
“I feel great,” Jackson said. “I stayed up here all offseason, worked out with our training staff up here. I put on some good weight, gotten stronger. I’m up about 7 or 8 pounds right now. That’s just staying up here and working out during the offseason. I’ll probably lose 2 or 3 of that in training camp. But that was the plan to come in at that.” (Buffalo News)
The extra bulk may be a good thing for Jackson. The Bills still aren’t sure what role he’ll play in 2013 so having the extra weight may help him get some goal line and short yardage carries. He won’t have the explosiveness he used to have but that’s not what they need from him anymore.
Shoot it might actually help him stay healthy too.
