Brian Wilson could sign soon

Former San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson is moving closer to a decision. Wilson worked out for clubs at UCLA last week and looked like he’s just about ready to go after last April’s Tommy John surgery. Things went pretty well at that workout and now he’s got quite a few offers in hand.

Brian would be huge for either one of those two teams that are considered front runners, especially the Pirates. Right now the other teams are complete speculation but we do know the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francsico Giants were in attendance last week.

If I had to make a guess it would be the Pirates, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Giants and the Boston Red Sox as teams that have made offers.

Scott Miller of CBS Sports says that Wilson wants to pitch for a contender but also has an affinity for Los Angeles. One would then think of the Dodgers as front runners but who knows if they really are.

Only thing I do know is that Wilson could wind up a game changer for any contender, if he’s indeed healthy.
