VIDEO: Papelbon suffering from ‘mental grind’

Philadelphia Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon is struggling right now, anyone whose watched this team can tell you that. He’s now blown five saves over the past month. He’s been Heckyl and Jyde this year over the first two months he was perfect on the way to a great season. Over the past month though he’s taken 2013 to one of the worst in his career. After today’s game he sounded and looked like a player completely deflated and lost which is never a good thing.

I’ll be the first to admit I pick on this guy big time. I call him Papsmear, today after the blown saved I yelled the Phillies got papsmeared. I call him Jonathan Papelbum. Any variation you can think of I call him it, I just hate him it’s in my blood being a fan of the New York Yankees.

BUT it’s all in respect because the guy has immense talent and this interview worries me because you never want to hear a player sound like he did today. Even worse was the blank stare on his face.

The good thing for him is Uncle Charlie is his manager and is by his side 100%. Charlie Manuel said afterwards that the All-Star break is going to be good for the guy and I agree.

Take a look.
