Giants and Cruz agree on extension

New York Giants fans can breathe a lot easier now as it appears the team and star receiver Victor Cruz have reached agreement on a long term deal. Jay Glazer just reported that the two sides have agreed on a five year deal worth $43 million with about $15 million guaranteed. Even better is that the deal starts next year after the one year tender he’s already signed expires.

So there we go, we’ll be seeing a lot more salsa dances at MetLife Stadium. If the entire contract is played out it will take Cruz to the age of 31, which means the Giants have his prime years locked up.

The deal does leave Victor outside of the Top 10 money making receivers but I don’t think he’ll mind after getting $15.6 million guaranteed. With a lot of the money early he can always hold out later in the contract if he’s doing that well.

Now its on to the next problem. Hakeem Nicks has been the #1 receiver so you know he’ll be expecting a similar deal. My response to that is stay healthy for 16 games and he might get it.
