UPDATE: Les Bowen of the Philly Daily News is reporting that “The Eagles say Nnamdi Asomugha does not have concussion symptoms “

The Philadelphia Eagles had a huge scare today when safety Nate Allen and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha collided. After the collision Allen was shaken up but Nnamdi laid almost motionless for a few minutes. He eventually did get up and left with his head down on a cart. Early reports are that he likely suffered a concussion.

The Eagles said corner Nnamdi Asomugha was still being evaluated for a concussion after suffering a lip laceration and a sore neck in a collision Monday with safety Nate Allen. (Philly.com)

The collision itself was what we’ve come to expect when we see a defender or receiver laid out, meaning two players went up for the ball and one’s head landed in the chest of the other.

Allen said Asomugha “busted his lip real good, but I don’t think he did anything too serious” when they both went up for a pass intended for DeSean Jackson, and Asomugha’s head hit Allen square in the chest.(Philly.com)

The good thing is that it appears Nnamdi escaped serious injury but there is a downside, he may have suffered a concussion. If he indeed did this wouldn’t be his first, he last suffered one in December while playing the Seattle Seahawks.

That would now be two concussions in the past nine months and you have to wonder what damage it may have caused. How long will it take for him to return this time? Will he become more likely to suffer another? Will this cause him to be tentative in the air or going for a tackle?

All questions that will be answered soon but right now hopefully this guy is truly OK.
