Jeffries wants to stay in NY

Is it any surprise that Jared Jeffries doesn’t want to leave New York? Not many want to leave once they live there, wait a minute what am I saying. The only reason he doesn’t want to leave the city is because of how much money the New York Knicks have paid him over the years.

“I know that the Knicks are interested. I love New York,” he said. “I’m still proud that I’ve been part of back-to-back playoffs. I feel like we made improvements this year as a team. That’s my ultimate goal. I want to improve, I want to get better. I want to be on a winning team, and I think we have a chance to do that.

“I feel like I’ve been through so much and we’ve been so close. I want to do as much as I can to get better.” (ESPN New York)

Jared’s earned over $17 million during his Knicks tenure while not giving much back. He’s only had one Knicks season where he played in more then 56 games. His career numbers with the team? Dreadful. He’s averaged 4.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.1 assist and 0.6 blocks over 22 minutes a game.

Can you blame a guy for wanting to stay with a team whose payed him like that for that kind of performance? I can’t.

The only problem he may have in returning to the Knicks actually boils down to money. The Knicks don’t have much cap room and are sure to focus on bringing back Jeremy Lin first. So if any other team shows interest with a little more money I’m sure that desire to stay in New York will be thrown out the window.
