Pavano to DL with old injury

Minnesota Twins pitcher Carl Pavano is heading to the disabled list with a right anterior capsular strain. The worst part about this is that it’s taken this long for it to happen and the injury could have been made worse. The reason is Pavano underwent an MRI for the strain a month ago.

@RhettBollinger: Pavano is going on the disabled list with a right anterior capsular strain. Blackburn activated from DL.

Hardball Talk at NBC Sports reports that Pavano underwent an MRI a month ago and it showed a strain an injury that the team thought he’d be okay to pitch through it.

Instead Pavano struggled allowing 24 runs over 24 innings, with hitters hitting .370 over that stretch. Sounds to me like he wasn’t physically able to pitch. I think it’s time for someone in that organization to either get new doctors or get people in there that will listen to the doctors.

The reason is the guy replacing Pavano in the rotation is Nick Blackburn. Blackburn’s been on the disabled list since May 16th with a quadriceps injury that he also tried to pitch with.

Which means you have to ask what’s going on in Minnesota??
