Franzen breaks nose at Worlds

Things got pretty rough for Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen at the hockey World Championships. Playing for his native Sweden Franzen took a pretty hard cross-check as his country was getting routed by the Russians. The cross-check led to his nose being broken which came with a pretty good amount of blood loss.

Wings general manager Ken Holland, who is in Helsinki to take in that site’s part of the world championships, was trying to get information on Franzen. “He got cross-checked in the head and was leaking a lot of blood,” Holland told the Free Press. (Detroit Free Press)

There was no update on his condition but I’m sure he’ll be back on the ice for the Swedes next game. If these guys can get back on the ice quickly when its an NHL game then I’m sure they’ll do the same when it’s for their country.
