Eagles to target QB in the draft?

A few weeks ago the rumor was that the Philadelphia Eagles would trade up and attempt to draft quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The idea that the Eagles would target a QB of the future was very valid but to trade up to the top ten for a 2012 backup is not. Peter King of Sports Illustrated suggests the Eagles could make a selection in the second round.

The Eagles have the 51st overall pick, courtesy of the Kevin Kolb deal last year, along with the 46th pick. I can see Andy Reid going developmental quarterback with one of those picks. (Peter King – SI – MMQB)

I could definitely see something like this happening. After the 2011 season there is plenty of debate on whether Michael Vick is the QB who can lead this team to a championship. Even if turned back into the 2010 Michael Vick there’s a lot of question on whether or not he could stay healthy for the entire season. So why not draft the future and early enough that he could help if needed?

If Vick proves to stay healthy and leads to a title then Andy Reid can do what he does best. Get a young QB make it look like he can be a big time QB and then trade him for players and picks.
