It looks like the New York Giants might finally get to see what their third round pick in 2010, Chad Jones has to offer. Jones has missed the last two seasons after being involved in a serious car crash but has been working hard to get back on the field. A report in today’s New York Daily News says Jones will be attending the Giants offseason workout program, which is great news.
The plan right now is for the injured safety to join the Giants’ offseason workout program, which opens that day, nearly 22 months after he almost lost his leg in a horrific car accident. Jones has been rehabbing hard near his home in Louisiana and he’s said many times he has his sights set on playing for the Giants in 2012.
Whether he can or not remains to be seen. At the offseason workout program at the Giants’ Meadowlands practice facility he’ll continue to rehab his injured left leg in the hopes that at some point he’ll be able to pass the Giants’ team physical. So far he hasn’t, so it’s impossible to know if he’ll be ready to participate in any on-field spring workouts, mini-camp, or even training camp when it opens this summer. (NY Daily News)
I’ve always said it would be great to see Chad on the field again, even if it was just for a practice. The article doesn’t lie it was truly a horrific accident and just to practice again would be a huge accomplishment. If he ever made it into a game well that’s something that would be TV movie material.
I’ll I have to say is good luck Chad and hopefully we see you on the field for the 2012 NFL season.
