The New York Yankees are starting off free agency with guns firing, they’ve already contacted the agent of C.J. Wilson and Roy Oswalt. That’s right general manager Brian Cashman is already contacting agents of star players and seeing what’s out there. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though as it’s pretty certain no deals will happen for a while.
“I’m in the process of talking with everybody,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. “That’s the way the routine works.”
Cashman made contact yesterday with agent Bob Garber, who represents both pitchers, as part of the his initial sweep through the free agent market. He hopes simply to gauge interest. (Marc Carig – Newark Star-Ledger)
I’m not sure how interested in Oswalt the Yankees actually are, remember last week it was leaked that the team is unsure of Roy’s durability. They’re interest in Wilson though we know is absolutely genuine, he’s the top pitcher on the market. I’m sure the asking about Roy was the simple guaging interest part, while C.J. was legit interest.
