John Fox Gets Feisty

I think it’s safe to say that Denver Broncos head coach John Fox is getting a little tired of all the talk about his starting quarterback Tim Tebow. He’s not getting upset about the Tebowing craze or teams mocking his Qb but upset at the talk that he’d purposely put a player of his in a position to fail. Who can blame him?

On a conference call with Oakland reporters today, Fox shot down the idea that he and the Broncos coaching staff were starting Tim Tebow at quarterback to silence the fans.

“I think it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,” Fox said. “I think at the end of the day we’re trying to evaluate a football team and win games. After that, that’s all we really care about.” (Denver Post)

Personally, I don’t think Fox would start Tebow just to shut up his fans. If that was truly the case then the Broncos need to fire him immediately, that’s not how you run an organization.

What I do think is that Fox and the Broncos are trying to figure out what they have in the youngster. The team is going nowhere fast this season so it’s the best time to do so.

Will it shut his fans up if he fails? Well of course it would but that’s far from the reason they would do this. They need to know if they need to spend a draft pick on the QB who WILL be the face of their franchise.
