Asante Rips Front Office

WOW things are getting crazier in Philadelphia. This morning I talked about Asante Samuel and Andy Reid making ammends, where Reid said he the two of them talked and have nothing else to say. Well, Asante does but not about his coach. Comcast SportsNet Philly has a big article today with lots of quotes where Samuel sounds off on the organization as a whole.

Here’s a few of them.

Asked Wednesday if he feels wanted, Samuel said: “By Andy. Couple people upstairs might not want me, but who cares? They’ve probably never played football. …

“It’s a business and they run it like a business and they’re going to do what they need to do. They’re playing with a lot of money, playing fantasy football, doing their thing.”

Asked to clarify if he was referring to Roseman and Banner, Samuel said: “Howie and Joe? I don’t know, do they fit the comment I made? There ya go. You think they’re upstairs playing fantasy football with the owner’s money?”

“I think there’s a little power struggle around here,” he said. “But it’s all good. Like I said, me and Andy cool. I’m here to play for Andy. He’s my head coach and that’s all that matters. …

“Everything has been good with me and Andy. That’s my guy. That’s who I play for, that’s who I continue to play for. I go to war for Andy. It is what it is. All the other stuff upstairs.”

“When they traded for Dominique, I was happy,” he said. “When they signed Nnamdi, definitely was happy. But when they made the call to me and said they were trying to trade me, that’s when it went bad. I know it’s not a rumor, I know it’s a fact.”

“They called me. They called me and my agent. Talked to both of us.”

That definitely sounds like a guy that’s not happy and a team that is in a lot more disarray then anyone has thought. What happens at this point I have no freaking clue but owner Jeffrey Lurie is going to have a lot of decisions to make this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see offices cleaned out to the likes of what is going on at Fenway Park right now.

I’ll say once again though, Samuel is doing his teammates and the fans right. He stressed again he will be on the field and doing his job.

“For the fans, I’m here, as long as I get paid on Tuesday, I’m going to go out and do my job to the best of my ability each and every Sunday,” he said. “I play for the fans and I play for my teammates, and that’s what it’s all about. Everybody has other issues, contract issues, whatever, and you just deal with it accordingly. Like I always have.”
