NFL Power Rankings Week 3 – 2011

Week Two in the NFL was pretty predictable which sucked after an exciting, anyone can win Week One. What it did was help sort out the Week 3 NFL Power Rankings some. Let’s take a look.

1a. Green Bay Packers
1b. New England Patriots
3. New York Jets
4. Philadelphia Eagles
5. New Orleans Saints
6. Detroit Lions
7. San Diego Chargers
8. Baltimore Ravens
9. Washington Redskins
10. Atlanta Falcons

11. Pittsburgh Steelers
12. Houston Texans
13. Buffalo Bills
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
15. Dallas Cowboys
16. Tennessee Titans
17. Chicago Bears
18. New York Giants
19. Arizona Cardinals
20. San Francisco 49ers
21. Denver Broncos

22. St. Louis Rams
23. Oakland Raiders
24. Cleveland Browns
25. Jacksonville Jaguars
26. Carolina Panthers
27. Indianapolis Colts
28. Minnesota Vikings
29. Cincinnati Bengals
30. Seattle Seahawks
31. Miami Dolphins
32. Kansas City Chiefs

This week I had to go with the 1a/b format. The reason is I can’t boot the Green Bay Packers from the number one spot, they’ve done nothing wrong this year but at the same time I can’t leave the New England Patriots out of that spot. So we’ll go with the 1a/b for now, next week that changes.

I’m only faulting the Eagles one spot in the rankings this week as I truly think they would have won that game if Vick didn’t leave with the concussion. If they lose without him next week to the Giants, they’ll have to drop.

I hate putting the Jets so high but they got the job done against the lowly Jags and other teams that were in the top 10 couldn’t handle their business. Those teams include the Ravens, Chargers, Bears and Texans.

The Giants move no where in the rankings despite their win. They looked worse then they did against the Redskins but Rams turnovers and sloppy play is what gave them the win. So the Giants did nothing that makes me want to improve their position.

Now those very Redskins move into the Top 10 for the time being. I don’t think they’ll last but early on they’re looking good and lead the NFC East.

The Bills are another surprise team but I’m playing wait and see with them. They’ve beat the Chiefs and Raiders so far something that doesn’t take too much to do.

The Colts dropped and dropped hard like they should, I’m seriously doubting they ever crack the Top 20 this season.

The Panthers may be the first team I’ve ever moved from the #32 spot without winning a game and they did it in a big way. Out of all the 0-2 teams they’re by far the best. Cam Newton has been exciting and just because of that they got more juice then the Chiefs, Dolphins, Vikings and Seahawks at the moment.
