So what trademark am I talking about? It’s obviously his jersey number, the #34 that he’s worn since his days as a Texas Longhorn. He’s worn it with the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins but today in his first practice with the Baltimore Ravens he was spotted wearing #39.
Why? Well running back Jalen Parmele currently wears #34. Parmele was set to become the backup to Ray Rice in 2011 but with Wiliams getting a two-year, $2.5 million deal those plans have obviously changed.
Could Ricky be playing the nice guy and letting Jalen keep a number that may also be close to him? Probably not, Parmele didn’t even wear it during his time at Toledo, he wore #33 then. I’m thinking it’s just he wanted to get on the field so he grabbed a number.
They’ll be some wheeling and dealing on the way and how will Parmele make out? Hopefully Ricky treats him well since he’s taken his job from him. Parmele tweeted about the jersey number and it sounds like he is willing to give it up for some change.
@JayParmele: So Ricky didn’t even ask for #34… But I can’t let him rock #39… Hmm
Well look at that. As I’m typing this post I see a deal was made. Ricky has forked over the cash and Jalen will be switching back to his college number of 33 and Ricky gets his coveted #34. For how much? Don’t know if we’ll ever know.
@JayParmele: Deal has been made, I’m switching to #33, Rick got his 34
@JayParmele: Ha don’t ask for details, it’s undisclosed amount
