Sneak Peek – Hot Streaks on MLB 2K11

Pitchers and training are about to report which means it’s almost time for the Major League Baseball season to begin. More importantly it’s almost time for the MLB video games to be released. 2K Sports baseball game – “Major League Baseball 2k11” is scheduled for a March 8th release and these guys have stepped their game up. What are some of the new features?

Well there is a new Dynamic rating system. What does this mean? It means that if a player dominates in real life his ratings in the video game automatically adjust (pending internet connection of course).

If players weren’t realistic looking enough for you in 2010 they’ll be even more so this year as the 2K sports team has rebuilt all their player models in hopes of more realism.

They’ve also completely redone the fielding system. They’ve “Completely revamped fielding system, featuring improved AI, throwing meters and landing indicators to give you more control to run down a fly ball or make the play at the plate. ” (2K Sports site).

Don’t fret thou the best feature of 2K10 is back and that is the $1 Million Giveaway for pitching the first perfect game. Wade McGilberry won the award last year using the Atlanta Braves and 2K Sports will be giving another fan a chance to win.

“2K Sports made video game history last year by giving away $1 million in the Perfect Game Challenge,” said Jason Argent vice president of marketing at 2K Sports. “We’re thrilled to be giving our fans – from skilled players to novices – another shot at the prize money with Major League Baseball 2K11. Our cover athlete, Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies, is one of those rare pitchers to have thrown a perfect game and we think that it’s only fitting that he’ll be inspiring gamers to step onto the mound for their chance at perfection.”

I can’t wait for this release. I’ve always been a MLB The Show fan but I’m giving 2K sports a chance this year, especially after the success of NBA 2K11, arguably the best basketball game in history. I’ll be receiving a copy within the next couple weeks and once I do I’ll give you a full review.

Till then, enjoy this video from Evan Longoria about the game.
