Eagles To Get “Chilly” Again…..

It sounds like the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Andy Reid are willing to bring back an old friend, and no it’s not Donovan McNabb. In a conference call with Minnesota reporters, Reid said he’d welcome former Vikings coach Brad Childress, IF he wanted to return.

“Brad knows any time Brad wants to come back, I’m here with open arms,” Reid said today in a conference call with Minnesota-area reporters. “I think Brad Childress should be given another opportunity as a head football coach. He does a heck of a job.” (Philadelphia Inquirer)

Even so during the call, Reid has said that he hasn’t reached out to Childress about a future job. Not sure how much I believe that but hey what else can the big guy say, he’s got one of the hottest offensive coordinators in the league in Marty Mornhinweg.

With the Eagles offense performing so well he wouldn’t dare say anything publicly. If Chilly is interested in returning to Philadelphia he’ll root his former team on big time, the more the Eagles offense succeeds the more likely it is that Marty could get a head coaching opportunity this off-season.

If he were to move on, then I’m quite sure Childress is back in the fold for 2011. If Marty doesn’t get a new job, then I’d say it’s a long shot.

Reid did say in the call that Childress deserves another head coaching opportunity, I’d agree. Yes, he struggled personality wise, actually struggled all around but he was a rookie head coach. Plenty of coaches have flopped majorly with their first team, only to succeed later on.

For Brad to get that opportunity thou he’ll need to improve his image, going back to Philadelphia could do just that. If Marty moves on, then Childress will get the chance to take over a very, very explosive offense. If he continues on Marty’s success then he’ll get his next head coaching job soon enough.
