Indianapolis Colts tight end Dallas Clark suffered a hand/wrist injury this past weekend against the Washington Redskins and is not out indefinitely, possibly the entire season. This is a stunning change of events for the Colts as the injury didn’t seem to severe at the time. Clark initially hurt himself late in the game Sunday, left the game and then returned the next series.
@Adam_Schefter: Colts TE Dallas Clark is out indefinitely w/ hand/wrist injury. He plans to go for 2nd and 3rd opinions to determine how long he’ll miss.
The Colts are an organization that usually keep their injury news pretty quiet. They usually only give out just enough information to appease league rules, so with comments like this leaking out its not a good sign.
There’s one part of Schefter’s report that makes me really think this is a serious injury and that’s when he mentions Clark seeking additional opinions. Not the fact that he’s going for a second, that’s normal in sports, but when a player goes for a third opinion its rarely good news. That makes me think whatever injury this may be it could be much worse then the 3-4 week variety but more a season ending type.
I did say earlier that the Colts are usually tight lipped about their injuries but they did do something today that is a tell tale sign that Clark will be out a while. They re-signed tight end, Gijon Robinson, a player they waived a month ago. Basically he’ll be a backup to Austin Collie but a productive one since he does know the teams system.
Peyton Manning and the Colts have to be holding their breathe that Clark’s injury is short term. They’ve got a much better chance of winning a championship with him, then without him. In the meantime for you fantasy players, Collie will become Peyton’s go-to-guy on the underneath routes.
