Not So Golden Are You Tate

So looks like Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Golden Tate isn’t the good boy he claims to be. The former Notre Dame star received a “trespassing warning” over the weekend and he’s lucky it was only that. reports that Tate was caught inside a Top Pot donut shop in Washington at 3:00 am the other night, the catch being the shop was closed.

The good thing for Tate and the Seahawks is that he shouldn’t face any league discipline. If he was actually charged that would be a different story. The reason he wasn’t charged is because the owners decided not to press charges and I’m pretty sure why. The Seahawks and Top Pot recently signed a deal making the donut shop the official donut and coffee supplier for Qwest field.

I’m thinking maybe Tate just wanted to test out the product before it entered the stadium this fall and you know what. He did test it out at 3:00 am so he was most likely testing it out in a drunken state, just like the Seahawks fans will be doing after tailgating all day.

In the end, this is a pretty funny story but you know what it’s somewhat troubling. mentions an interview that Tate had back in April.

“Being at Notre Dame, you’re used to being under the microscope, so I’m used to having all eyes on me,” Tate told 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh. “Anything I do, anywhere I go. My mother and my father taught me what’s right and what’s wrong, so I don’t think I have a problem making any tough decisions.”

Hopefully we can just chalk this up to immaturity and hope this is his only indiscretion.
