Yankees / Phillies Battle Musically Too

I’ve been living in Philadelphia now for 10+ years and the whole time I’ve been waiting for my beloved New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies to face off in the World Series. The time has finally come and unlike other World Series this decade there is an excitement level that has not been seen in a long time.
Philly hates everything New York and to New York well Philly is just another borough. Disclaimer to my Philly people, that’s not my words just what a good amount do think. But in reality these are two cities that love to compete with each other, two of the biggest markets in the country a mere 100 miles apart.
The people in both of these cities love to compete at everything and just like you would expect both cities musicians (specifically rappers) would get involved with a World Series championship on the line.
The first shot was fired by Jay-Z and the New York Yankees. While he hasn’t said anything towards Philly he will be at Game 1 of the World Series performing Empire State of Mind on field. So the guy who “rocks a Yankee hat better then a Yankee can, you should know I bleed blue” thrust himself into this new but old rivalry.
While none of the mainstream artists in Philly are taking their shots yet, there has been a response via NeeKo. The video was found on Youtube by my boys over at YuppieJunk.com. He’s made a pretty hot remix of it called “Ill State of Mind”.
Take a listen to both videos and tell me what you think of them.
Here’s the G.O.A.T.
Here’s the newcomer.
Now I’ll have to admit NeeKo killed it with his remix. For a born Yankee fan living in Philly, I’ve got to respect the track for its inclusion of everything that’s best in Philly.
While this is turning into a huge battle between New York and Philadelphia, there isn’t much difference between the two teams fans. We all love our teams to death, even respect the other team more then we all care to admit and for one reason. We all share that hatred of that other New York team.
Neeko – “When the Mets come through you’re gonna hear our fans BOOOOO”.
So what are the chances the Phillies pump this on the sound system in Game 3? I think Jimmy Rollins should make this his new walk up to the plate song.
Philly is standing up big time and trying to get this guy to perform it live.

Love hearing about NY-Philly non-sports rivalries!
“I’ve been living in Philadelphia now for 10+ years and the whole time I’ve been waiting for my beloved New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies to face off in the World Series.”
This is my first time to this site, so I don’t know a thing about Paul Raymond, but its a huge violation to root for the Phils and the Yankees.
Really? that’s strange I know quite a bit of people in Philly who say the Yankees are their favorite team in the AL. Now if its say rooting for Mets and Phils that’s a big violation, for sure.
But when it comes to the Yankees and the Phillies there is no real rivalry. Now when they actually do play each other you have to choose a side, which I’ve done.
I’m not gonna lie, this it a hot song BUT THAT’S BECAUSE ITS ORIGINALLY FROM NY!! YOU COULD HAVE AT LEAST CHANGE THE CHORUS UP A LITTLE BIT BUT I MEAN, THERE NO JAY IN PHILLY!
