Cowboys Backfield Getting Lonely

The Dallas Cowboys have finally decided to go with their strength on offense and that’s the running game, not Tony Romo. Unfortunately for the Cowboys one of their backs has gone down with an injury in each of the last two games. Marion Barber suffered a quad injury a week ago and Felix Jones went down with a knee injury last night.
The Cowboys rushing attack didn’t miss a beat Monday night while playing without Barber. The combination of Jones and Tashard Choice was just too much for the Carolina Panthers. The two of them ran for 200 plus yards for the second straight week. Can the trend continue if the team is down to one back? Not sure.
How bad is Jones injury? That’s still unknown, he was scheduled for an MRI today. The belief is that its just a strained knee, the MRI is just precaution. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter its almost guaranteed that Jones will miss at least two weeks.
Not too much of a surprise there that he’ll miss that amount of time, it sounds about normal for such an injury. What will the Cowboys do in the meantime thou?
Luckily for them Marion Barber should return from his injury and play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Barber felt he was healthy enough to play Monday night, but the doctors wouldn’t clear him. If he plays there shouldn’t be any problems but if he doesn’t the Cowboys could have a long day in Denver.
Tashard Choice proved last night that he can handle his own but I think the ‘Boys will lean on the arm of Romo if Barber doesn’t play. And by doing that is why I said it could be a long day. The Broncos defense has only allowed one touchdown this season.
All of these injuries to the Cowboys backfield bring up some other questions thou. Jones has proven he can be a big time player in the NFL, while Barber has proven he’s got immense talent but can’t stay on the field. When both players are healthy, does Jones start to eat into Barbers touches?
