NFL Power Rankings Week 3

There has been a major shake up in the Week Three NFL Power Rankings. With both of our top two teams, Pittsburgh and New England, you knew there would be some big changes. With those losses the top of the rankings also go from being AFC heavy to very NFC heavy.

Here’s the rankings.

1. New Orleans Saints
2. New York Giants
3. Minnesota Vikings
4. Pittsburgh Steelers
5. Baltimore Ravens
6. Indianapolis Colts
7. New York Jets
8. New England Patriots
9. Philadelphia Eagles
10. Atlanta Falcons
11. San Diego Chargers
12. Dallas Cowboys
13. Tennessee Titans
14. Buffalo Bills
15. Chicago Bears
16. Miami Dolphins
17. Green Bay Packers
18. San Francisco 49ers
19. Arizona Cardinals
20. Carolina Panthers
21. Seattle Seahawks
22. Houston Texans
23. Cincinnati Bengals
24. Jacksonville Jaguars
25. Washington Redskins
26. Denver Broncos
27. Oakland Raiders
28. Tampa Bay Bucaneers
29. Cleveland Browns
30. Kansas City Chiefs
31. St. Louis Rams
32. Detroit Lions

Quick thoughts on the rankings.

First, it pains me not to put my New York Giants at the top of the rankings but they don’t deserve it. They were third in last weeks rankings, so with one and two losing it would only be natural to make them number one. The reason I couldn’t? Drew Brees. The Saints are just so dominant right now that how can anyone say they aren’t the best football team in football at this moment. I can’t remember the last time anyone dismantled the Eagles defense like that.

I don’t think the Jets are a better team then the Patriots. I don’t think the Jets will go further then the Patriots. But for one week, you have to rank them higher then the Patriots as they both are top ten clubs.

Washington is the only team to win and drop in the rankings. Only scoring nine points against the St. Louis Rams is despicable. I said last week where is this supposed improving Redskins pass offense? They looked like crap against the Giants in Week 1 and looked even worse against the Rams. Jason Campbell is not the answer. He puts up decent numbers but doesn’t have the decision making of a winner.

I actually don’t think the Detroit Lions are the worst team in football. I have to keep them in the bottom till they win but I’m thinking the Rams may be the worst. Seven points in two weeks? Wow that’s horrible. What makes that number even worse is that they do have playmakers in Marc Bulger and Steven Jackson.
