Hank Baskett to the Colts

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett found a home pretty quick, he’s now a member of the Indianapolis Colts. He goes from one Super Bowl contender to another. More importantly, he goes from a crazy quarterback situation in Philly to a pretty stable one in Indy.

Peyton Manning is going no where (unless injured) and is undeniably one of the best quarterbacks of our time. He makes everyone around him better and sorry to say Eagles fans, but runs the pass first offense better then Mr. Donovan McNabb.

I can’t say enough how good of a scenario this is for Baskett. He won’t get the $1.5 million he was due to make this year but he’s in an offense where he is going to get to show what he’s got. With that being said it’s most likely the receivers last chance to prove himself.

He’s averaged less than 350 yards a season over his three year career, not good numbers. But with Anthony Gonzalez out for a few weeks he’ll definitely get a chance to surpass those numbers. He’ll start off as the number four receiver in the Colts attack, which isn’t an issue as the Colts use plenty of four wide receiver sets.

His main problem will be how quickly he can learn the teams playbook. If he does fast enough, watch out cause Peyton is the QB that will make him better.

Despite his shortcomings in Philly there were plenty of teams lining up to sign the receiver after he cleared waivers, a couple of those playoff contenders. Outside of the Colts he also got calls from the Baltimore Ravens, a team who seems to be calling ever receiver on the open market.

Having some of the top teams calling for his services tell you how much talent this kid has. Hopefully he gets a chance to prove it, and shows it.

I mean really how can’t you root for a guy who married a Playboy bunny?
