Kennedy Working His Way Back

Turning to some good news on the injury front, New York Yankees pitcher Ian Kennedy is returning to the mound. The pitcher underwent surgery back in May to remove an aneurysm from his armpit. The Yankees are so thrilled with the rehabilitation that they’re having Ian make a start for their Scranton affiliate during the International League playoffs. In that appearance he’ll go three or four innings.

I know its just minor league but every organization wants their teams winning championships. Winning titles in the minor leagues gives the kids confidence and lets them feel what its like to win in pressure situations. For the Yankees to allow Kennedy to start at such an important time they must be very pleased with the kid.

Even after the surgery, Ian has the chance to become a solid middle of the rotation starter for the Bronx Bombers or another team. The Yankees may try to throw Ian into the Arizona Fall League or a winter league to continue building up arm strength in anticipation of 2010.
