Brandon Marshall Suspended

Adam Schefter broke news today that the Denver Broncos have suspended wide receiver Brandon Marshall for the rest of the preseason. No surprise there, I think everyone saw this coming. Even with all of his distractions is this a smart move for the team?

Most people would say yes, its smart. He’s been nothing but a distraction and a headache over the entire off season and during camp. With most players I would totally agree with a suspension, especially when its during the season.

What isn’t said is whether the suspension is from preseason game action or all preseason activities. I believe the suspension is just for the games thou, at least that’s what it sounds like after listening to Schefter’s report on ESPN. If that’s the case this is pretty much a slap on the wrist.

If the suspension includes all preseason activities then this could be a very bad thing for the Broncos.

Marshall may have been a cancer but there is no doubt the guy can flat out perform on the field. But with a new coaching staff and offensive playbook do you really want him sitting on the bench? He needs as much reps as he can get to get versed in the new playbook and create chemistry with new quarterback Kyle Orton.

In the end, this suspension could be exactly what Marshall needed. Hopefully he realizes he killed any trade value he had and now he’s got to go out and prove he can be a model citizen. If not, he won’t get that big payday after this season.
