New Jersey Adding A Big Baby?

A hot rumor today out of Boston is the possibility of the Boston Celtics sending Glen “Big Baby” Davis to the New Jersey Nets. If the deal takes place New Jersey would send Yi Jianlian back to the Celtics. This would make for an interesting deal between two divisional rivals.

Big Baby would be a huge boost to the New Jersey lineup, possibly even starting right out of the gate. The Nets already have Brooks Lopez in the middle but adding Davis would create a very imposing front court. Outside of Lopez the team has no real big man, they’ve got tall guys but no one with the kind of bulk Davis has.

Jianlian for Baby straight up isn’t a fair trade, not in anyway but it is something that would bring the Celtics compensation should the Nets make an offer that Boston can’t match. Although Yi’s style of play could fit in very well with the athletic Celtics. He’s not a post player in any shape or form, but his outside abilities would make him pretty valuable.

In my opinion the Celtics would be pretty smart in acquiring Yi. It’s better then letting Davis leave because his contract is too much for them too match.

Question is does a deal take place? There are other rumors today surrounding the Celtics so who knows what’s true and what’s not.

Here’s some other places for more insight to a possible deal.

I don’t know about a huge boost. The Nets aren’t going anywhere this year.

Big Baby would be a nice addition, but the Nets still won’t have enough talent to win more than 30 games next season (35 tops).

If this deal goes down, Yi could be a nice role player off the Celtics bench. Boston needs another guy who can hit threes and Yi is potentially a very good fit.
