Jevon Kearse is entering the final season of his two year contract with the Tennessee Titans. Jevon Kearse is also represented by one Drew Rosenhaus. So what’s that mean.
Well, on Rosenhaus’ twitter page, he says “Jevon Kearse is entering the last year of his contract. We have approached the Titans about an extension.”
Question is are the Titans willing to give one? That I’m not so sure about.
Kearse is 32 years old and recovering from offseason knee surgery. The operation was minor but yet hasn’t been able to participate in any team activities yet. While he did play all 16 games in 2008, he’s also been known to be injury plagued.
Kearse will be 33 by the time the season starts so who knows if they’d really want to extend an aging vet. And I can’t really blame them, as they are in the top tier of AFC teams.
The Nashville City Paper says. “the Titans are usually deliberate in terms of extensions for players.” So basically they just don’t hand out extensions freely and with the amount of potential free agents they have don’t expect that to change.
Kyle Vanden Bosch, Keith Bullock, Tony Brown, Bo Scaife and others can possibly hit the market. All of them are more valuable to the team then Kearse, so Rosenhaus is giong to have to do a lot of lobbying to get his guy a new deal.
I doubt it happens. This will probably be Kearse’s last year in Nashville unless they resign him next winter. Hopefully Drew doesn’t get in Jevon’s head and cause distractions for the Titans.
