In some unfortunate news today the Washington Nationals placed catcher Jesus Flores to the 15-day disabled list. The reason? A bruised right shoulder. I say its unfortunate cause Flores is in the middle of a breakout season.
Flores, 24, just started his third season and has a .311 average, 4 homers and 15 rbis. Flores is already halfway to his career high for homers, which is 8 that he reached in 90 games last season. He’s only played in 26 this season, so yea he’s having a pretty good year.
The plus side is the move was made retroactive to May 10th. This could mean the injury isn’t as severe as thought and the team just wants an extra catcher on the roster. Especially with this weekends doubleheader verse the Philadelphia Phillies.
Flores is having some trouble swinging the bat, so hopefully this break will get him enough rehab to get the shoulder strained. Would hate to see his good start ruined because of a bad bruise.
