Is there a new career on the horizon for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo? Romo just got done making a play to go touring. Does that mean he’s looking to join girlfriend Jessica Simpson on a music tour? Nope. Tony just took part in a local qualifying round in attempt to enter this years U.S. Open of Golf.
Romo shot a very respectable round of 80, but didn’t come close to qualifying for the sectional round. On one hand its a blessing in disguise for Romo, as the Cowboys are set to hold a mini-camp June 16th to 18th. The U.S. Open takes place June 18th to 21st.
So how seriously is Romo taking golf? I’d say very.
Romo has participated in a few celebrity golf tournaments, pro-ams, etc. Most recently he won the Northern Texas PGA Adams Golf Pro-Scratch tournament at Stonebridge Ranch with his partner Mark Walker, scoring seven birdies.
He’ll actually be attempting to enter another PGA event. Romo was scheduled to compete in today’s qualifying event at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club for the HP Byron Nelson Championship.
Could Romo be setting himself up for a lucrative post-NFL career?
