Zambrano May Miss A Start

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano may miss his next scheduled start with an injured hamstring. Zambrano was hurt during Sunday’s game against the Florida Marlins after running out a bunt single. He didn’t want to leave the game at all, trying to convince the team trainer it was just a cramp. The team listened and after one pitch to the next batter, Alfonso Soriano, he had to remove himself.

His next start is supposed to be Friday night in Milwaukee. Will he face the Brewers?

“I’d say it’s in jeopardy,” Piniella said. ”And if I had to guess, I’d say no. We’ll see. I’d guess we’d have to do something to bring up a starter, but let him get his [MRI].”

”It would be a big blow,” Derrek Lee said. ”He’s a horse, and we don’t want to lose him. But there’s nothing we can do. He’s a great athlete and tremendous hitter. You don’t see too many guys his size who are that athletic.”

Like Lee said he’s a big guy and with his size he’s going to need those legs to be at full strength. I’d say its a good idea for the team to give him a start off. Let him get some rest and make sure he’ll have the legs fully underneath him for his next start. Even thou it will be a big hit to many fantasy baseball squads, including my own.

It was a freak injury for a pitcher hopefully it doesn’t keep him out of action long.
