Not sure if its about ad and ticket sales, as they still play a 55/45 or so split on home games between the two teams. Ticket sales could be a possibility to make MLB look like sales are good on Opening Day but after a AL championship I’m sure the Rays would of sold out opening day.

Because Boston can sell more tickets and ads. It’s all about the money, not the fans.

Boston got rained out today as well. It’s tough to take when you wait all winter for the real games to start and then you get shafted because MLB doesn’t schedule the game in a warmer climate. I mean, why would they schedule to open in Boston against Tampa, when the game could have been played at the Trop, in a dome?

Quite a few have been warmer than 65, I know. But the point really is that weather in the mid-west and northeast is a crap shoot this time of year. It’s either going to be absolutely brutal or absolutely beautiful. So MLB should really err on the side of caution and just start where the weather is more constant.
