Even thou the Dallas Cowboys defeated the New York Giants on Sunday Night, the team took one hell of a whooping physically, specifically quarterback Tony Romo. The Giants defensive line provided constant pressure and continually pounded Romo. At one point in the first quarter Romo was shown holding his back and it was even announced that he suffered a back contusion. As the game went on the hits kept on coming, and with that the pain sure was increasing by the looks on Tony’s face. So now that it’s two days later how is the Cowboys’ star feeling? Will he be able to go in this weeks big match-up with the Baltimore Ravens? Will his back hold up in that game against a team that is sure to bring just as much pressure?
At the moment, it sounds like all systems may be go for Romo on Saturday night. Coach Wade Phillips says the QB will be reevaluated Wednesday, and then we’ll get a cleared picture on his health. “He’s going to be sore, so we’ll see,” Phillips said. “We’ll see where he is on Wednesday.” According to the Dallas Morning News, Romo was moving quite gingerly around the teams practice facility on Monday. Something that NBC announcer John Madden said would happen.
What’s Romo think about the sore back?
“When I got hit in the back on that one play, I obviously felt a little something there, but I played the next play,” Romo said after the game. “Once you can play the next play after the hit, I feel like you can make do.”
To me that sounds like a man who has the intentions of making his next start. For the Cowboys and their fans that is an essential, as they need Romo at the helm if they want to make the playoffs. It’s do or die time and they need their star in there. And you know what? Romo knows it, I say he’ll be in there Saturday night.
