30 million for Man Ram?

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made their first attempt at re-signing outfielder Manny Ramirez and did so in a BIG way! The New York Post is reporting that the Dodgers have offered the slugger $30 million a year for two years. That’s absolutely insane!!! Still, even with this offer you shouldn’t expect to see Manny in Dodger Blue next year.
It’s believed the Dodgers made this offer just to make the fans happy and have them believe the team tried to resign the slugger. Scott Boras (Manny’s agent) has made it known that his client wants a long-term four year deal that will take him to possible retirement. This is the reason why the Dodgers only offered a two year contract. They’re pretty confident that he’ll turn that deal down and in doing so make him look like the bad guy in the eyes of the fans.
Personally, I hope that Man Ram decides to screw the Dodgers. How so? Take the contract Manny! Yea you want a 4 to 5 year deal worth $20-25 per season, but you know what a 2-year $60 million deal is still pretty sweet. When that contract is over you’ll still be only 38 and most likely still performing at a high level and still be able to cash in. So if you stay this productive for as long as you think you will, then the Dodgers would actually have made you even richer then you thought you’d be. So yes Manny, take the contract play for the money, that’s what America thinks of you anyways. But at least here you’d keep a fan base happy and keep another MLB team from making you look like the bad guy.
