NFL Week 5 Wrap

Another wild week in the NFL. With how the early games were going I thought my picks had no chance to even finish at 500 but with some late game surprises, and a strong showing the night games I finished over 500 again. The overall record was 8-6, here are my picks from Week 5. Once again not good enough to win the weekly top spot at Cuzoogles NFL Pigskins Pick Contest. My record there was 7-7 as I did have one game that I changed my pick on after I submitted to Cuzzy. Let’s run through this week’s upset pick, lock pick anddd this week’s highlight.
Highlight – The bright spot for me was picking the correct score in the Indianapolis Colts / Houston Texans game. I must admit this was a very very lucky pick on my part. Most of the game it didn’t even look like the Colts had a chance to win this, but like every Colts / Texans game it turned into a nail biter. Thanks to Peyton Manning and that late drive I nailed the final score of Colts 31, Texans 27. This was the second game this year I’ve predicted with 100% accuracy!
Upset – I knew this week’s Upset Pick was a real long shot, but I really thought the Detroit Lions would have a chance to keep things close with the Chicago Bears. It was the normal thought of two divisional rivals whom really hate each other, go with the home team. But DAMN, I knew the Lions were bad, but not THISSSSS bad. They are absolutely horrible. Sad thing about that is they aren’t even the worst team in the league! I did have Detroit winning 20-17, unfortunately for me it was a Chicago blow out. So now I’m 3-2 on my Upset Picks.
Lock – This is where I’ve really struggled this year, my Lock of the Week. This week I went with the San Diego Chargers over the Miami Dolphins. Now I’m not high on the Chargers at all, I think they’re a fraud but I fully expected a win over the lowly Dolphins. The main reasoning was the Chargers struggled mightily against the Oakland Raiders last week, but had a late surge to win the game. I totally expected the coaching staff to get that team focused and use that late game momentum to get this team back to the upper echelon of the AFC. I clearly was wrong. My Lock Picks are now 2-3, and I was lucky to win the ones I did.
