Lito is looking to get green

Thats right Lito is looking for that green, and definitely not in an environmental way. Lito Sheppard of the Philadelphia Eagles is ready for his pay day and he’s showing the team he means business. Sheppard has changed agents and is now being represented by Mr. Mega-deal himself Drew Rosenhaus. He’s the guy players call when they’ve exhausted all options and want someone who can get them their due. Eagles fans know this all to well after Drew orchestrated the whole Terrell Owens fiasco a few years back.

Really thou who can blame Lito for getting a new agent? His old one just hasn’t come through, he’s a Pro-Bowler, arguably just as good or just a hair behind new teammate Asante Samuel. He wants a raise and a starting job. Instead the Eagles haven’t shown the desire to renegotiate his deal which runs through 2011 and calls for him to make $2 million in base salary this year, just a fraction of the new guys guaranteed money. And on top of that he got bumped completely out of his role as a starter all the way to the nickel back. To give his old agent credit, he did get the team to try and shop him around but team management won’t just give him up for nothing (and rightfully so, he’s still a very very good corner).

Rosenhaus has wasted no time in his work for Lito. Reports placed him in Philadelphia today at the team’s Nova Care Complex. That’s a good sign there as it means the team and agent are having dialogue, if anything gets done thou that is another story. Even better news thou for Eagles fans it sounds like Lito will be in training camp and on time.

With Drew taking over the agent role, we’re going to be hearing a lot of rumors over the next couple weeks. My guess thou is Lito starts and ends the season with the Philadelphia Eagles, helping make that the best secondary in the NFL. Will he get a contract extension, that I’m not going to guess on because with Eagles management you just never know. They get an idea in their head and they don’t budge from it. If he goes out an outperforms Asante thou, you better believe he’ll get his payday.

Training camp is inching near, which means it’s almost time for KICK OFF!!!! The Linc is going to be rocking this year, as the Eagles have a legitimate chance to take back the NFC East title. Have you got your tickets yet? If not, you should look into it as prices will only keep going up and up as the win total increases.
