The Dallas Stars are waiting on a couple of their unrestricted free agents to decide on retirement. The two in question are, Stu Barnes, 37, and Mattias Norstrom, 36. Both players are contemplating retirement but yet would prefer to stay in Dallas. Let’s take a look at both players situations.
Stu Barnes. Barnes missed nine of the final playoff games due to a concussion. Naturally, for a player of his age, he’s going to contemplate his health after an injury of that sorts. Barnes did make it known if he comes back he’d be a Star. “For me, this is one of the best places in the league to play.” This season, he punched in 12 goals, and assisted on 11 others. His stats also included 4 game winning goals.
Mattias Norstrom. Norstrom played through the playoffs with a sports hernia. His decision on another season will come down to his family. “For me, it would be giving up something I love for something I love more,” Norstrom said. “Family comes first.” His problem is that his family remained in Sweden this past season, so he’s not able to see them as often as he’d like. If he decides to remain in the NHL, he’d also like to play for the Stars.
