Angels shoot down Figgins rumor

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have shut down the rumor of Chone Figgins and the Chicago White Sox. Team General Manager Tony Reagins has said he and Chicago’s GM Kenny Williams have had no conversations whatsoever about the third baseman. “I haven’t had any conversations with Kenny,” Reagins said, “and we have no interest in moving [Figgins] at this point.”
The rumors for Figgins make sense, the White Sox have always had an affection for the speedy lead-off hitter. And with the gaping hole at the top of their order this would make the rumor even more believable. But could the Chicago Sun-Times have been trying to create interest for something that wasn’t there? It’s possible but then again reading their article you can tell it was a possibility that was thrown out to Kenny.
Right now it looks like the Angels won’t let Figgins go anywhere. He’s become one of the best lead-off hitters in the game and even more important they lost Erick Aybar to the disabled list. “He’s always had value within the organization,” Reagins said, “and he’s an important part of what we’re trying to do.”
I’m sure this isn’t the last we’ve heard of it thou. Come trade deadline if the White Sox are still leading the American League Central, I’m sure they’ll come calling.
