Hand job for Jeter

New York Yankees star short stop Derek Jeter took a pretty good beating from a Daniel Cabrera pitch in tonight’s game. The Baltimore Orioles pitcher lost control of a fastball and it hit Jeter full speed right on his hand. Jeter was in obvious pain after the beaning, and was immediately taken out of the game. First course of action was get him to the locker room and under the X-Ray machine. This was something every Yankees fan did not want to see.
The hand in play, was his left, the glove hand. Wow that sounds even worse there then I thought it would, but it goes with the title so we’ll leave it! LOL! Back to the injury, the X-Rays came up negative and it’s currently being diagnosed as a contusion of the left hand. This would mean a day-to-day injury instead of the four to six week variety. In the meantime, you can expect Alberto Gonzalez to get a couple starts at short while Jeter recovers.
For you that were wondering, did the Yankees respond? You bet they did! In the 6th inning, Latroy Hawkins threw a pitch at Luke Scott, which immediately had the bullpens and dugouts emptying. The reason, wasn’t just that he threw at Scott. The pitch was thrown just inches from his head, home plate umpire Chuck Meriwether had no choice but to eject Hawkins right there. You could see Scott saying “Not my head, dude.” in the replays. The rest of this series should be interesting now.
